From the October 2006 issue of <\/em>All You<em> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.myrecipes.com\/recipe\/white-bean-sausage-stew-10000001875451\/\" target=\"_blank\">original here<\/a>), this crockpot soup is bound to fill the house with a wonderful aroma!<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"ingredients\">\n<h4>Ingredients<\/h4>\n<ul class=\"ingredients\">\n<li>6 (3 oz.) Italian sausages <\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon olive oil <\/li>\n<li>1 large onion, sliced <\/li>\n<li>1 clove garlic, chopped <\/li>\n<li>2 (15 oz.) cans white beans (Great Northern or navy), rinsed and drained <\/li>\n<li>1 (28 oz.) can chopped tomatoes, drained<\/li>\n<li> 1 tablespoon chopped fresh or 1 tsp. dried thyme <\/li>\n<li>Salt and pepper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<h4>Directions<\/h4>\n<ol class=\"instructions\">\n<li> Poke holes in sausages and put in a large nonstick skillet. <\/li>\n<li>Add 1\/4 cup water; bring to a boil. <\/li>\n<li>Lower heat and cook sausages, turning, until lightly browned and water has evaporated, about 10 minutes. <\/li>\n<li>Transfer to a plate. <\/li>\n<li>Heat oil in skillet over medium-high heat. <\/li>\n<li>Add onion and garlic; cook, stirring often, about 3 minutes. <\/li>\n<li>Add beans, tomatoes and thyme.     <\/li>\n<li>Put half of bean mixture into a slow cooker. <\/li>\n<li>Arrange sausages on top, followed by remaining beans. <\/li>\n<li>Cook on high for 4 hours. <\/li>\n<li>Check after 2 hours and add water if mixture looks dry.     <\/li>\n<li>Remove sausages; slice thickly. <\/li>\n<li>Season beans with salt and pepper. <\/li>\n<li>Return sausage to stew.
