Once I saw the photo of the pizza in the magazine, I knew it was a must-have.<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"ingredients\">\n<h4>Ingredients<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/cooks\/images\/scanned_recipes\/pizza-sausage-spinach_150.jpg\" alt=\"Pizza photo from magazine\" width=\"150\" height=\"179\" hspace=\"9\" vspace=\"0\" align=\"right\"><\/h4>\n<ul class=\"ingredients\">\n<li>cornmeal for the pan <\/li>\n<li>1 pound pizza dough, thawed if frozen <\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons olive oil <\/li>\n<li>2 links Italian sausage, casings removed (about 3\/4 pound) <\/li>\n<li>1 small bunch spinach, thick stems removed (about 3 cups) <\/li>\n<li>kosher salt and black pepper <\/li>\n<li>1\/3 pound thinly sliced provolone<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<h4>Directions<\/h4>\n<ol class=\"instructions\">\n<li> Heat oven to 425&ordm; F. <\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle a rimmed baking sheet with the cornmeal. <\/li>\n<li>Shape the dough into a 14-inch circle, and place on the prepared baking sheet.    <\/li>\n<li>Brush the dough with 1 tablespoon of the oil and bake until puffed and golden, 15 to 20 minutes.    <\/li>\n<li>Meanwhile, heat the remaining tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. <\/li>\n<li>Add the sausage and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until no longer pink, 4 to 5 minutes. <\/li>\n<li>Add the spinach and &frac14; teaspoon each salt and pepper and cook, tossing, for 1 minute.    <\/li>\n<li>Top the partially cooked dough with the sausage mixture and cheese. <\/li>\n<li>Bake until the crust is crisp and the cheese has melted, 12 to 15 minutes. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the October 2009 Real Simple (original online), this tasty pizza is a rustic alternative to the normal delivery pizzas we have.
