For variety, you can swap in another type of pasta that holds sauce well, such as fusilli or bow-tie pasta.&rdquo;<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"ingredients\">\n<h4>Ingredients<\/h4>\n<ul class=\"ingredients\">\n<li>2 tablespoons unsalted butter<\/li>\n<li>3 ounces pepperoni, finely chopped<\/li>\n<li>1 small onion, finely chopped<\/li>\n<li> 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped <\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup dry white wine <\/li>\n<li>1 28-oz. can crushed tomatoes <\/li>\n<li> 1 tablespoon sugar <\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup heavy cream, warmed <\/li>\n<li>Salt <\/li>\n<li>1 pound rigatoni <\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup finely chopped fresh basil leaves<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<h4>Directions<\/h4>\n<ol class=\"instructions\">\n<li>Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. <\/li>\n<li>Add pepperoni and onion and cook, stirring, until onion is soft, 3 to 5 minutes. <\/li>\n<li>Add garlic and saut&eacute; until fragrant, about 1 minute longer. <\/li>\n<li>Add wine and cook, stirring, until almost evaporated, 2 to 3 minutes. <\/li>\n<li>Stir in tomatoes and sugar, bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer until slightly thickened, 15 to 20 minutes. <\/li>\n<li>Stir in heavy cream. <\/li>\n<li>Season with salt. <\/li>\n<li>While sauce is cooking, bring a large pot of salted water to boil. <\/li>\n<li>Add rigatoni and cook until just tender, about 10 minutes or as package label directs. <\/li>\n<li>Combine with sauce and basil and serve.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A recipe from the September 2011 issue of All You (original here).
