German Chocolate Cookie Bars are the eighteenth of my 25 Cookies of Christmas.<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"ingredients\">\n<h4>Ingredients<\/h4>\n<ul class=\"ingredients\">\n<li>1 pkg German chocolate cake mix (any brand)<\/li>\n<li>1 stick butter or margarine, melted <\/li>\n<li>2 eggs, beaten <\/li>\n<li>&frac12; cup chopped pecans<\/li>\n<li>1 cup shredded coconut <\/li>\n<li>1 container coconut pecan icing <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<h4>Directions<\/h4>\n<ol class=\"instructions\">\n<li> Preheat oven to 350&deg;F.<\/li>\n<li>Cream eggs and butter.<\/li>\n<li>Add  cake mix, and combine thoroughly. <\/li>\n<li>Stir in coconut and pecans. <\/li>\n<li>Drop spoonfuls of batter onto cookie sheet.<\/li>\n<li>Press a thumb into each cookie to make an indentation.<\/li>\n<li>Fill indentation with about a &frac12; tsp of coconut pecan icing. <\/li>\n<li>Bake 10 to 12 minutes. <\/li>\n<li>Cool on wire rack, and store in a tightly covered container. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"variations\">\n<a name=\"variations\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Variations<\/h4>\n<ul class=\"variations\">\n<li>Our family loves coconut and pecans so we include them in both the cookie and the icing. Omit the stir-ins from the cookies if you prefer.<\/li>\n<li>Chop a bar of German Chocolate into small pieces and stir into the cookie batter (as you could stir in chocolate chips). <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>German chocolate cake converted to a cookie.
