Happy Easter Card

Happy Easter CardThis is my swap for the Columbus regional this weekend. If you’ll be at the event, come find me! I was inspired by the many Christmas cards that featured hanging ornaments and the idea of an Easter egg tree. In particular, I wanted to create something similar to the Something for Christmas—All Together stamp.

I printed the cards on 5½ x 4¼ Avery InkJet Postcards/Index Cards (8577). They could be used as postcards, but the image is the same size as a 5½ x 4¼ card as well. Because my printer required a margin (in other words, it can’t print to the edge of the paper), I set the card with a white background. With that margin, the image printed on the cards properly. Essentially I let the bleed area function as the background.

Once the cards were printed, I let them dry a few hours (so the ink didn’t smear) and added some accents with Dazzling Details. They needed to dry again after that before they could be stacked, of course.

Here are the details on the card:

  • Background:
    • Back: Whisper White
    • Middle: Everything Easter—Pattern 5, with a 2 pt Island Indigo mat and default drop shadow
    • Top: Whisper White, with a 2 pt Island Indigo mat and default drop shadow
  • Sentiment: A Good Egg—Happy Easter in Island Indigo, with default drop shadow
  • Embellishments taken from Everything Easter (left to right), all with default drop shadow
    • Basket color
    • Flower color
    • Scallop circle 2
    • Egg color
    • Balloon color
  • String: Tree Trimmings—String, in Island Indigo, with default drop shadow

Going My Way Recruitment Card

Going My Way?My sister (who is a Stampin’ Up demonstrator) told me about the “My Way” theme for 2012, I realized that I knew exactly how to make a card for a potential recruit. All you need to do is add a personal note on the inside. The minor problem is that I’m not a demonstrator and have no need for this card, but once inspiration hit, I had to make it.

  • Background:
    • Travel Log—Pattern 4, 2 square punches, resized and pieced to cover the card
    • Covered with a rectangle punch of So Saffron with a Marina Mist mat
    • Rectangular strip (like a ribbon) at the bottom of the card is Travel Log—Pattern 12
  • Speech Bubble:
    • Rounded Corner punch and Petite Pennant punch, both in Very Vanilla
    • Text in Bernard MT Condensed, 36 pt, in Baja Breeze
  • Embellishments taken from Tickets & Tokens II and from Travel Log
    • I covered the suitcase center with Very Vanilla and added the word Success!
    • I covered the word Vacation in the street sign with the “Are You Packed” embellishment

You’re On My Mind Greeting Card

My card for this week’s Stampin’ Queens Sketch Challenge (SQSC24) is fairly simple. I downloaded a few new sets in preparation for my trip to the Regional in Columbus later this month and decided to just play with the colors from two of them, The Write Stuff II and Travel Log.

Here’s this week’s original sketch:

SQSC21 Design

And here’s my version of the card:

You're on my mind Greeting Card

Here are the details on what went into the card:

  • Background Layer: Travel Log—Paper 2
  • Central Image (top to bottom):
    • Circle punch in Whisper White
    • Circle punch in Whisper White, set to 50% opacity
    • Circle punch in So Saffron, with 2 pt mat in Whisper White
    • Scalloped Circle punch in Real Rust, with default drop shadow
  • Center Band: Square punch in Old Olive Small Polka Dot
  • Embellishments: The Write Stuff II—flower 6, flower 2, and flower 3, all with default drop shadow
  • Sentiment: Upsy Daisy—sentiment 3, in Old Olive

Updated 2/8: Just occurred to me that you could easily use this as a Valentine’s card. On the inside, just write: “And in my heart.” What a nice sentiment that makes with the front: You’re on my mind….. And in my heart.
