The Last Day at CCCC 2011: Heading Home

Sunset at the Atlanta airportSessions are over, and most of us are either home or soon will be. As is often the case with the last day of a convention, there were fewer posts, and as the day wore on, the #cccc11 updates turned to goodbyes, last-minute meet-ups, and descriptions of food and liquid refreshments before the journey home.

Session Snippets
There were fewer sessions and fewer quotable quotes, but some things did stand out:

One of my favorites was the delight of the audience when Peter Elbow asked attendees to freewrite, summed up well in PhDweeb’s Tweet: “PhDweeb OMG Peter Elbow just asked me to do 5 minutes of freewriting #cccc11 #fb” #.

Looking forward to #cccc12

The 2012 CCCC will take place in St. Louis, Missouri, March 21 to 24. The 2012 Call for Proposals focuses on “Writing Gateways,” in reference to the landmark St. Louis Arch. Program Chair Chris Anson challenges us to “consider what it means to move into and through our work with writing and rhetoric, in all its forms, purposes, and contexts.”

As you’re making plans for your own proposal, why not set up a Proposal Planning Workshop, like the folks at Eastern Michigan University?

Submission Deadlines: Online, send by 11:59 p.m. CST, May 6, 2011. Mailed, postmarked by April 29, 2011.
